Happy Friday y'all! What are your plans for the weekend? As for me, I'll be spending the night at work since the first few days of the month are always our busiest times /sigh
It's a very rainy + gloomy day today here in Manila so it's only fitting that we amp up the atmosphere with a good ol' gratitude list! I haven't been very good about doing Thanks a Latte! weekly but you know what, it's OKAY.
PS. If you're wanting a Pinterest-appropriate version of this quote graphic, just click on the red "Pin" icon floating at the bottom of the post and it'll automatically give you a vertical version! Neat, eh?
There are a handful of things / people / events that I'm thankful for so let's get right to it ::
Reviving the Childhood Magic
For Ana's (one of my very best friends!) birthday, his boyfriend planned a surprise visit to... Enchanted Kingdom! As the name of the place suggests, it's our local version of Disneyland. This place has always been the highlight of several school field trips, family outings and getaways with friends. Like Disneyland, no matter how many times you've been to Enchanted Kingdom (and despite the place practically remaining unchanged over the last decade or so), it's always a *magical* visit.
Photo op with Eldar! Always a must. We were trying to copy our poses from a photo we took back in high school!
A day after the Enchanted Kingdom adventure, I made my way to our office's bowling tournament. I've only ever bowled three or four times in my entire life but it's always fun trying to get that ball to smash through all the pins. I'm getting better at not letting the ball fall to the gutters ;) That's improvement, right? Maybe 12894731 more sessions and I'll practically strike out on every turn. Best way to end the night? Buffet dinner at Vikings! #nom
One of my side hustles is helping out with my boyfriend's website, HumbleBola. Since we have a small + mobile team, finding a way to communicate effectively is one of our top priorities. We've tried a handful of things - Facebook Group, Asana, e-mail - but we can't seem to find a simple + easy + effective solution. Until I discovered Slack.
Slack is messaging app for teams. It allows you to invite your team into a domain where you can create channels (with hashtags, so millenial) and send each other direct messages. That's how simple it is. What makes it powerful for team communication is the powerful search engine. You can search keywords in posts, file names and even search for a file with a specific extension (.jpg, .pf, etc.). Of course, the clean interface for both the mobile and desktop app is huge plus for me.
LASIK Surgery Screening
I went to our opthalmologist last week to get my eye screened for LASIK surgery. I've always been near-sighted (since grade school) and I pretty much cannot function without my eye glasses. My mom and I decided that it was time to consider LASIK surgery. After lots of eye probing and blinding lights, I was declared a good candidate for LASIK! *confetti!* I've booked my appointment on October 24th and I kid you not, it has been on my mind 24/7.
And now, let's expand this post through YOU! What are you grateful for recently? What's keeping you motivated + inspired? Drop some rainbow confetti in the comments!
