Project Life 2014: Week 18

18-3.jpg

With a huge year-long project such as Project Life, it's inevitable to have weeks, or even months, where I just want to get it done. Sometimes, I don't want to fuss with embellishments, messy mediums or even lots of photographs. But then, there are weeks like this one.

When I go to a new (to me) place.

When I spend the weekend with good friends.

When I get to see and hear new sights + sounds.

When I experience new things.

These kinds of weeks are a gold mine to a memory-keeper. As much as I love documenting the daily, mundane, simple things, nothing beats travelling to somewhere far (or at least substantially different) from home.

This week started out pretty normal, pretty standard. But the weekend was the bomb. Together with good friends, I went to Baguio. It's the go-to place here in the Philippines if you want a cooler weather + amazing scenery. I've never been to Baguio before. I know, I know. I was definitely missing out!

I love this title card! Everything just fell into place. I mostly used supplies from the Studio Calico Bluegrass Farm kits and as expected, everything coordinated beautifully.

I have an interesting app on my phone called Timehop and it basically pulls photos + status messages from my social media accounts from years back. Everyday it shows me what I posted one / two / three/ four / five years ago. It's a pretty cool app! (Also, a great way to add photos when you don't have a lot for a specific week ;) )

This one has a funny story - my younger sister, Alyssa, inherited my mom's old iPhone 4. She had me reset everything to factory settings + update to the latest version of iOS. My youngest sister, Sam, and I thought it would be fun to change her wallpaper + lock screen to a very silly selfie of us doing the Cheon Song Yi pose ;)

Right-Hand Side

I dedicated the entire right side + an insert to the wonderful Baguio trip I went to! I love transparencies + cutting up large images so I used a lot of that for the insert. It's a great way to add design elements without overpowering the actual photographs + story.

I used a photo that I took from Mines View Park as the "introduction" to the trip. I printed it as two separate 6x4" photos then I added a cluster of small embellishments on the lower left corner.

Inspired by nature, I mainly used green / light green colors in my spread. I love how this card stands out!

This is the entire right-hand side when the insert is flipped open. I used the same technique for the other side of the insert.

One of my favorite experiences from the trip was meeting Boomer! He's a huge St. Bernard dog who's actually very popular. He stays at Mines View Park and has become a tourist attraction. I took a photo with him for Php 50 (~$1.00).

This card from Studio Calico's Office Hours Project Life kit was perfect for this layout! Baguio is famous for their strawberries so I had  to use this card to summarize this quick + fun summer trip.
